AYO (SofaBeats, Iboga Records) is the solo project of danish composer, producer and sound artist Julie Schønherr Rosengreen. 

AYO strives to send a message of a more harmonious cohesion with nature, with each other and with ourselves.

By incorporating nature elements into her performance, she tries to give nature back the voice it has lost. Giving the listener a chance to emphasise with it by letting plants and water generate the sounds they hear, in an always evolving and generative pattern, which makes every performance new and unique.



Combining that with playing live hardware synths and her classical influenced compositions, the listener is presented with an experience of nature meeting electronics and the deeper emotional self - floating into a world of dreamy and melodic soundscapes, dynamic pads, processed foleys and recorded ambience.

Julie has been playing and composing music since she was a child. With a background as a violinist and as a classical musician, the ambient genre was later a place where she felt at home and where she could express and unfold herself freely.

She has a bachelor degree in electronic music and sound art from the Danish National Academy of Music. Here she has honed her expression and further developed her "voice" in order to be able to stand stronger with her message and vision.

As AYO she has been touring all over Europe since 2015, as well as a few gigs outside of Europe.
Some of the festivals she performed at includes: Boom Festival (Portugal), Ozora Festival (Hungary), Freqs of Nature (Germany/Berlin), Anthropos (London)

In 2020 she released her debut album Moto on Sofa Beats records. This was followed by several single & compilation releases on labels like Microcosmos records, Altar records and the danish female label SØNTH collective.

Her second album is soon due for release.
