With his recent Grammy Award nomination for the production work on Steel Pulse’s album ‘Mass Manipulation’, producer / solo artist Gaudi has further enriched his already impressive music portfolio, adding this new achievement to his recent three #1 albums in the Billboard chart as a musician and songwriter, on Lee “Scratch” Perry’s latest album ‘Rainford’, Hollie Cook’s album ‘Vessel Of Love’ and again with Steel Pulse’s album ‘Mass Manipulation’. His unique sound and skilled musicianship have contributed to a number of hits in the UK Charts, from the most recent #1 in the Dance Chart with the album ‘Prism’ by The Orb, to the oldest #1 Dance Chart with his Terra Terra remix of ‘Jus Come’ by Cool Jack, passing through the iTunes #1 Chart single ‘Blue Monday’ (co-produced with Dub Pistols and Dubmatix), #41 Official UK Chart with Horace Andy’s album ‘Midnight Rocker’ and a #13 with the album ‘Dubwiser 2’ by Dreadzone.
There’s no easy way to encapsulate London-based Gaudi’s vast body of work, for the past three and a half decades he has been shattering genre barriers, pioneering psychedelic-influenced dub, world music and reggae, amassing a stunning collection of originals, production works, collaborations and remixes for name acts such as: Groove Armada, Tricky, Grandmaster Flash, UB40, African Head Charge, Mad Professor, Brian Ferry, The Beat, Deep Forest, Lamb, Trentemøller, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Simple Minds,, Sizzla, Baba Zula, Capleton, Creation Rebel, Don Letts, Caravan Palace, EMF, Dub FX, Shpongle, Youth, Salmonella Dub, Grouch and Afrika Bambaataa to name but a few.
Whether he is finessing high-profile projects in the studio, or whipping a crowd into a frenzy, Gaudi places all importance on sonic perfection, providing the best aural experience for his fans. He has done so for his entire career, which has seen the release of 19 solo albums, 350 productions and remixes, 3 movie soundtracks and countless live performances around the World, consolidating his credentials and earning him the title of one of the most sought-after producer / musician in the dub- electronica scene. .
A consummate musician and performer, in his live shows he plays theremin, minimoog, vocoder, tape echoes, percussion, multi-effects, stylophone and dub sirens, mixing his live dub vocals through analogue equipment to maximum effect. Honouring the traditions of old school dub, on stage he always leaves space for his music improvisation, resulting then with each of his performance been unique and unpredictable.
As a keyboardist and theremin player he is also part of live acts with which occasionally performs, such as: African Head Charge, The Orb, Deep Forest, Steel Pulse, Mad Professor, Adrian Sherwood, Scott Page and Roberta Freeman of Pink Floyd, Stephen Perkins of Jane’s Addiction, Norwood Fisher of Fishbone and Youth of Killing Joke.
