Emirati Singer/Songwriter Hamdan Al-Abri was born on the 18th of April, 1981, to Zanzibari parents who migrated to the golden shores of the United Arab Emirates in the late 1960s. Hamdan began vocalizing at a young age, but this soon developed into more than a mere hobby. He earned his stripes working alongside numerous groups and bands in Dubai and abroad, gaining vital live experience while enhancing his songwriting skills and cultivating his unequivocal voice.

But it was the next few years that brought him to prominence; As a founding member and frontman of the eclectic Dubai-based soul band ABRI, Hamdan and the band would go on to release two widely acclaimed albums in relatively quick succession ('Sunchild' & 'Blank Notes') and tour through India, Bahrain, UK, the Maldives & the U.A.E. Performing alongside greats such as Erykah Badu, Ziggy Marley, Arrested Development, Kanye West and Joss Stone.

Hamdan released his self-titled solo debut EP in late 2011. Comprising of not only five diverging tracks, but also exhibiting a burgeoning intimacy through the perennial questions of Life, Love and Death.

His poignant and tender re-introductory single '(Re) Birth' has been aired on the hit US TV show C.S.I, (Season 12, Episode 3 "Bittersweet") and it's subsequent purpose-probing single 'Falling’ has been aired on Sarah Michelle Gellar’s new US TV show “Ringer” (Season 1, Episode 7)

Now going by the artist name 'Abri', Hamdan is currently working on a few projects, work with his band 'Abri & Funk Radius' , 'Abri & The Dream Fleet', ‘Mallam’ and his solo effort.

Having made his mark at beach parties, Liminal Roots has gone on to play marathon sets at various festivals and venues in and around Asia, Africa & Europe. Gathering vibes by playing with the sun and the stars, long chill-out sets are where he is at peace.

Aiming for an amazing experience of sounds and emotions Ashwin travels with his sound stories all over the world, always experimenting with different chill sounds. He thrives on transporting people into far off soundscapes and loves getting his listeners warmed up, chilled out, groovy and smiling from ear to ear!

Although a firm believer in positive vibes, he does occasionally dwell into murkier darker waters of the ambient arena, as he says, experimenting never did anyone any harm.

Ashwin currently curates and manages India’s first-ever chill, ambient and downtempo focused Music & Art Festival called Chill Top Festival in Goa.
