Nominated for the Grammy Award 2020 with Steel Pulse for his production work on their album ‘Mass Manipulation’, plus three-times #1 in the Billboard chart as a musician and songwriter on Lee “Scratch” Perry, Steel Pulse and Hollie Cook’s albums, marks this year a very important chapter for Gaudi’s career.
A global favourite in the dub, psychedelic and electronica scenes, producer and solo artist Gaudi keeps feeding his ever-growing fan base with his infectious bass-driven grooves and innovative production techniques. There’s no easy way to encapsulate London-based Gaudi’s vast body of work, for the past three and a half decades he has been shattering genre barriers, pioneering psychedelic-influenced dub, world music and reggae, amassing a stunning collection of originals, remixes, collaborations and production works with artists such as: The Orb, Mad Professor, Deep Forest, Lee Scratch Perry, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Trentemoller, Simple Minds, African Head Charge, Lamb, Sizzla, Beats Antique, Steel Pulse, Dub FX, Shpongle, Horace Andy, Michael Franti, Balkan Beat Box, Youth, Bob Marley, Dub Pistols, Grandmaster Flash, The Beat, Hollie Cook, Salmonella Dub, Grouch, Barrington Levy, Prince Fatty, General Levy, Afrika Bambaataa, Ace Ventura and Astrix to name but a few. Whether he is finessing high-profile projects in the studio, or whipping a crowd into a frenzy, Gaudi places all importance on sonic perfection, providing the best aural experience for his fans. He has done so for his entire career, which has seen the release of 18 solo albums, about 300 productions and remixes, plus a number of movie soundtracks. A consummate musician and live performer, in his shows he plays theremin, minimoog, vocoder, tape echoes, percussion, multi-effects, stylophone and dub sirens, mixing his live dub vocals through analogue equipment to maximum effect.
Honouring the traditions of old school dub, on stage he always leaves space for his music improvisation, resulting then with each of his performance been unique and unpredictable.
As an accomplished keyboardist and theremin player he is also part of live acts whom sporadically performs with, such as: African Head Charge, The Orb, Deep Forest, Mad Professor, Adrian Sherwood, Scott Page and Roberta Freeman from Pink Floyd, Stephen Perkins from Jane’s Addiction, Norwood Fisher from Fishbone and Youth.
